Pictured to the left is a photo of our adolescent group homes.  Youth Care & Beyond has 3
community based group homes (Group Home A) located in North Central Omaha.  Each of these
homes is staff by live-in Family Model Staff and support staff 24 hours per day.

The goal of the program is to create a family style home where youth can learn and grow through
nurturing relationships with appropriate structure.  Each young man or woman comes with a unique
set of strengths which the treatment team utilizes to assist them with their problem areas.  These
problem areas include: lower intellectual functioning and behavioral and mental health issues.
Many of the youth have been the victims of neglect and abuse.

The average length of stay is 3-6 months for our group homes.  Our goal is to get the child back to
their family as soon as possible.  We believe children grow best in families. Therefore, the youth’s
family are an integral part of treatment planning and implementation.

When youth graduate the program, some move on to live independently, some will return home to
their family, and others will move on to supported or assisted living situations which may include
our adult residential program.
In 2010 Youth Care served  55 youth between the ages of 12-19.  Some statistics about the clients are listed below.

35% (19) were Caucasian American
36% (20) were African American
5% (3) were Sudanese
13% (7) were Hispanic
11% (6) were Multiracial
78% of our youth are male
22% of our youth are female.
99% of our youth were state wards referred from case workers, service coordinators, and probation officers.
1% of our youth was referred from their family
62% (34) of our youth received Special Education services from Omaha Public Schools
22% (12) of our youth attended an alternative school for special education and behavioral support
16% (9) of our youth received no special education services in the school setting

Without our services most of our youth would be living in locked settings or sitting in detention facilities without the specialized services they need to learn rehabilitative
behaviors.  Most of our clients children and adults, because of their low IQ's also have behavioral disorders.  Many have been locked up and abused because even
their parents and teachers did not understand their limitations.  We believe it is much easier for child to appear to be bad than not smart.  It is our compassion for this
population that we exist.
